Dollar Tree Gets More from BLI’s CPE than Credits

Every quarter, Dollar Tree hosts a full-day CPE session at their Store Support Center in Chesapeake, VA. Typically, about 15-30 of the company’s CPAs attend.

In preparing for each event, a small team at Dollar Tree reviews the BLI Course Catalog and selects a few courses that look like they would be the most interesting or helpful. That list is then circulated for feedback and a course selection is made.

Dollar Tree finds that BLI’s on-site training offers not only cost-effective CPE, but also unique content options. Whereas most CPE training providers offer technical skills training, Dollar Tree turns to BLI to provide the leadership and strategic skills training their CPAs enjoy. Participants regularly mention that BLI instructors present in an engaging, dynamic way and offer high-quality instruction.

Recently, Dollar Tree has offered its team courses in leadership, productivity, time management, and other “soft skills.” While each participant takes away something different from each session, the topics and training have spurred on unique conversations around the office. It has also provided Dollar Tree’s leadership with a unique opportunity to collaborate with other departments and offer guidance to younger staff members. “BLI instructors are high-quality and teach in an engaging and relevant manner. Because they know our business and understand our goals for each session, they are always able to make a difference for us. Working with BLI has been really good for our organization.” Robert Thomson, Vice President, Internal Audit, Dollar Tree, Inc.
