Courtney Kirschbaum spent 12 years working as a consultant and internal Global Program Manager for firms KPMG, Deloitte, and Price Waterhouse Coopers and learned that even the most well prepared graduate enters corporate world with little or no knowledge of what the “real” corporate experience is like, what to expect and how to navigate and what it really takes to be a star and get ahead. The level of competition is high and few are willing to share their hard won knowledge, experience and trade secrets. That’s what this course is: a survival and success kit compiled from her years of experience and information gleaned from peers who are HR executives, Partners, Directors and other “survivors.”

Background: Courtney Kirschbaum took a year-long sabbatical and moved to the high Rockies – Breckenridge, Colorado. At that time, Courtney had never spent a night outdoors – she decided to try it. After taking a two-day Survival Course and becoming certified as a Wilderness First Responder, Courtney spent the next year solo camping and hiking in Glacier National Park, Moab Utah, The Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, and all over New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Wyoming, Nevada, Idaho, Utah and California. She also spent a month in Mongolia tracking wild horses on foot by herself. “I realized the skills you need to survive and succeed are more mental than physical and that the outdoor survival and success has a lot in common with the “indoor” survival and success. This course uses the parallels between these two seeming opposite worlds in a creative, humorous and informative way.
